The Comanche Fishing Club had a freshwater bass tournament on April 22nd, 2023 at Coleto Creek in Victoria, Texas. This year, the St. Joseph High School Bass Club, led by Mr. Santiago Marroquin, competed with Shiner, so the event was renamed the Comanche Flyer Tournament. Thanks to the boat captains that volunteered their boats and knowledge, the kids were able to learn and fully experience competitive freshwater fishing.
The kids hauled in over a dozen keepers including a 5’ 7” bass by St. Joseph’s Lane Weischell. The smallest fish award went to Joseph Moore from Shiner, and the craziest catch award went to Quincy Jones from Shiner with a 5’ 5” mailbox!
The first place team was Jackson Morris and Lane Weischell from St. Joseph. The second place team was Vic Nunez and Will Weischwell from St. Joseph. The 3rd place team was Jayden Malina and Tristan Wick from Shiner.
This tournament was generously sponsored by A-1 Shiner Fire and Safety, Boehm Tractor Sales, Inc., Darilek Automotive, Eaves Original Prints, GBRA - Coleto Creek Division, H&C Construction Co., Inc., Maeker's Sausage and Processing, Pohler Tire Center, and Spoetzl Brewery.
