About Shiner ISD
Our History
One of the earliest schools in Shiner, Texas was built in the year 1890. This building was constructed of wood and was built by interested citizens in the Shiner community. As the population of Shiner continued to grow, there was a need to build a larger school building.
In 1911, a new brick school building was built to house Shiner students. After sixteen years of service, this building was considered too small for the growing population, and a new school building was built in 1928. Many additions were made to this building over the years to handle student growth. That campus served the Shiner community for nearly 100 years, but soon the ever growing student population demanded another new facility.
In 2007, Shiner ISD constructed a new school building at 510 CR 340, located next to Comanche Stadium. This combined campus served students in grades K-12. Ten years later, a bond was passed by Shiner taxpayers to build a junior high building next to the current school building. This new junior high building opened for students in 2018. In 2022, another bond was passed to fund the building of a new CTE (Career & Technology Education) classroom, to expand the girls weight room, and to connect the existing junior high building to the original main building. The new additions are expected to start serving the students of Shiner ISD in the 2025-2026 school year.
Shiner ISD strives to continue a tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and other extracurricular activities such as band and building trades, student organizations such as the FCA and FFA, and community service through the junior high and high school Student Councils. At Shiner ISD, we work to educate students so they are prepared to achieve success.
